Mahlangu Set For PSL Return

07 June 2011, Soccer Laduma

Jabu Mahlangu
Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates midfielder, Jabu Mahlangu, is considering a return to the big time with one of the PSL clubs in the new season. This was revealed to the Siya crew by Mahlangu’s brother, Tseki Pule, who confirmed that the player has been approached by a number of clubs that have shown a willingness in giving him another chance.

“He has some offers but for now he has taken a bit of rest, to relax. So he is concentrating on his family and I don’t think he will be going back overseas. He has offers from local clubs that are keen on giving him a chance again.

“He will definitely be reporting for preseason somewhere. But, for now we cannot mention names up until he has signed something with the club. But, they are calling him to say that they want him because they know that he can play,” said Tseki Pule, Jabu’s brother.

With Mahlangu wanting to get his football career back on track, the player is also looking to sue the state on grounds of wrongful arrest.

Last month Mahlangu was arrested together with Tebogo Nkosi, Mxolisi Nkosi and actor Vuyo Mgudlwa in Johannesburg following allegations that the car they were driving in was a stolen vehicle. Subsequent to the arrest, it was found that Mahlangu, Mgudlwa and Tebogo Nkosi were not guilty of any wrong doing and were released from police custody without any charges.

Mahlangu has decided to take action against the state for his wrongful arrest and is planning to sue the state. Mahlangu’s brother confirmed to the Siya crew that the former Osters IF player is finalising meetings with his legal team before he lodges a formal complaint against the state.

“He is suing the state through an advocate so he is busy working on that. For someone who never even appeared in court he has to. I think on Wednesday he will be meeting up with the advocate to proceed on the matter. That was a wrongful arrest and he will not just let go,” said Tseki Pule.
